How to tear Phone Books

If you ask around, the chances are pretty good that someone has seen a phone book 'being ripped in half' or knows of someone who does it, although it remains a feat of strength that almost seems superhuman. The purpose of this article is to de-mystify the tearing of a phone book and show you just how easy it can be. Tearing a phone book in half is something I have wanted to do since before I ever got into grip training but how do you go about ripping a 2” thick hunk of paper? It wasn’t until I started talking with Michael Wayne, a good friend of mine and strong 'gripster' in his own regard, that the technique clicked in my head.

Hungary workers get shock at bottom of rum barrel

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungarian builders who drank their way to the bottom of a huge barrel of rum while renovating a house got a nasty surprise when a pickled corpse tumbled out of the empty barrel, a police magazine website reported.
According to online magazine, workers in Szeged in the south of Hungary tried to move the barrel after they had drained it, only to find it was surprisingly heavy and were shocked when the body of a naked man fell out.
The website said that the body of the man had been shipped back from Jamaica 20 years ago by his wife in the barrel of rum in order to avoid the cost and paperwork of an official return.
According to the website, workers said the rum in the 300-liter barrel had a "special taste" so they even decanted a few bottles of the liquor to take home.
The wife has since died and the man was buried in a proper grave.

A 49-year-old Texas man has been accused of eating his dog alive. Shelby County Texas District Attorney Linda Key Russell is preparing to prosecute what she says is the strangest animal cruelty case she has ever encountered. Reggie Paul Fountain stands accused of eating his pit bull puppy alive in the case. "He chewed that and ate it, he had blood all over his face, he had blood on his chest, he was in his underwear walking down the street talking to himself and the dog," says Russell.

Online radio station for dogs

The world's first internet radio station for dogs has been launched in Thailand. features barking DJs playing vocal and instrumental music around the clock, reports the Bangkok Post.
Owner Anupan Boonchuen believes listening to music has an effect on canine behaviour.
He said: "I've noticed that dogs often respond to music. Some wag their tails. Some lift their heads while lying on the floor.
"At my grooming school we found that when we turned on music the dogs' mood improved. They were more obedient and let us trim their hair easily."
It is reported that ten students from the dog grooming school have been hired to work as DJs
Mr Boonchuen added: "One of the main qualifications is that he or she must be good at barking because dogs are our listeners, the DJs may have to make different sounds, such as whining or barking, to match the mood of music they play.
"And they must be able to communicate with the dogs, even if they can't see them."

The Experiment
Viagra (sildenafil citrate) has a firmly established ability to keep the male organ erect. But you might be surprised to learn that it has also been used in the laboratory to keep cut flowers from going limp. With Mother’s Day coming up, we decided to test this out for ourselves and find out if the same pill that keeps Dad’s woody from wilting can keep Mom’s mums looking perky. Shanghai preparing for 'human zoo'

SHANGHAI, China - Shanghai is getting set to open a "human zoo."
Four Australian men will live in a glass box on a downtown mall for two weeks in June, with the public able to watch them sleeping, eating and bathing, a news report said Thursday.
The group, known as the Urban Dream Capsule, has drawn crowds with similar displays in London, Montreal, Hong Kong and other cities.
"They won't turn off the lights or pull down the curtains. They show their whole life, from getting up to going to bed," Karen Chang, the event's organizer, told the Shanghai Daily newspaper.
"People like to watch them taking a shower, so they have to shower at least two times a day," Chang said. "Of course, one can't see the key parts, because there is nontransparent glass in the bathroom."
The 650-square-foot glass capsule is to be decorated in a Shanghainese theme.
Members of the group have been taking Chinese lessons so that they can communicate with spectators, the report said. The public can send e-mail or faxes to them, or put messages on the glass.
"Interaction is a key element of the performance," Chang said.
